Goodreads Synopsis

On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.
In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

My Review
Sky’s parents died tragically in a car accident when she was a little girl. Only she survived the crash. Now, Sky is an orphaned teenager living with her “aunt” in Colorado. Her whole life is one filled with close friends that ignore her pleas and throw her huge birthday parties, and the ski slopes.
Cassie, Sky’s closest and funky friend, Dan, and Ian throw her a party for her seventeenth birthday. That is when things begin to become strange. A boiler blows up, the thermostat shorts out, and Sky can’t seem to ever keep herself warm. And it all coincides with the mysterious cousins that start attending the same school as Sky. Ash is dark, charming and handsome, and has an amazing smile. He also seemed to know everything about Sky. Devin is also handsome, has cool blue eyes, and is calming. Ash and Devin seem to be at constant odds with one another. And the cousins are both showing an interest in Sky. She is torn between the affections from the two of them.
Sky soon learns that Ash and Devin are not really who they say they are, and Sky has to even question her own existence. After a skiing trip with the school, Sky begins to learn of a world that is outside of her own and that she is at the very middle of a war raging between ethereal beings.
As Sky begins to grow into her own abilities, with the help of the handsome and feuding twosome, she is in a constant state of confusions. Light or dark. Balance or chaos. Love or lust. Friends or destiny.
Sky is red-hot as a girl who goes from being comfortable in her small town life, to a girl with amazing abilities and many decisions to make. Her decision could change the destiny of herself, Ash and N, and a world that is watching her every move.

My Thoughts
A Beautiful Dark is captivating and love struck.  Ya books with the story revolving around angel ancestry are stories that I am absolutely addicted to, and this one was a perfect fix for my withdrawals. Although the lineage of Sky was one that was expected, the back story was not one that I was expecting. The back story of the history of the war between angels was rich in itself, but I was in love with the story of the way Sky’s parents fell in love and made the child of the angel’s destinies. If there was a prequel with Sky’s parents, or one of the angels “revolution”, I would definitely be there with my nose stuck far into the pages.
Sky herself was an interesting character. She was absolutely an ordinary girl with a slightly un-ordinary childhood, which ended up having an extraordinary existence. I love it when a heroine is made out of the most unlikely of people, and it seemed that Sky was that normal teenager just trying to make it through her high school years with her friends by her side.
There is a bit of a love “square”. Is that a good way of describing it? Well, that is how I am going to explain it. The love square consists of Sky, Ian, Ash, and Devin. They are all in love/falling in love with Sky. What could a girl want more?? All these boys are so different and interesting in their own ways. Ian has been one of her closest friends for so long. He is always there, being her Knight in shining armor. Ash is charming and witty, but has a flirtatious side. It seems as though her has been watching and loving her form a distance, and I am soooo curious to see where it ends up. Devin isn’t supposed to be interested or falling for Sky at all because of his destiny and duty. I personally want Sky and Ash together. Like, now! But it definitely makes the story interesting with all these boys after Sky’s one, and very confused, heart.
The ending is unexpected and left me definitely wanting more. I am gripped and now very impatiently awaiting for the next one! Don’t miss this amazing novel of destiny, love, and the power of believing in yourself.

Favorite Character: Ash (very tongue-tastic)

Least Favorite Character: Devin – although I like him from time to time, I decided from the very beginning that Devin was a little strange and not there for reasons that I would like!

 Can't wait for more!!
